This project, THE FAIRFIELD CENTRE was launched in 1999 by members of the Parish Church of SS. Peter & Paul and others, using existing church funds and generous donations from within and without, to buy the former Methodist church building in Fairfield Road, which became redundant because the congregation dwindled to a level beyond that required to sustain it. Other churches have indicated their support. The intention is to provide a warm and welcoming Open House (with tea and coffee, of course!) where people, especially the elderly, can meet and chat and receive help as needed. Also as a meeting place for mothers and toddlers, for children and young people. An After-School Club where children can receive help with homework is envisaged, as is also increased activity of the Young People's Club meeting on Friday evenings. A Craft Group meets on Mondays, 12:30 to 3:30. Bridge is played on Tuesday evenings and Bingo is played on Wednesday evenings. Further activities and events will, no doubt, be launched in due course.

THE FAIRFIELD CENTRE may be hired for associated events and meetings. Please help in any way that you can, as generously as you can. It does not have to be money which is very welcome and will continue to be needed. It is expected that THE FAIRFIELD CENTRE can be made to pay its own way and be of great benefit to local residents. Questions about the centre should be addressed to

The Vicar,
telephone 01728 -452223.

Offers of practical help should be addressed to
Mrs. Rita Fryer,

A warm welcome is extended to all. Please feel free to visit.
